Zazen: The Posture

Zazen posture is a balance between using your body’s physiology to relax and focus. Zazen is practiced while seated on a round cushion known as a zafu. The positions of the pelvic and hip bones are key. The correct balance is achieved when sitting on the middle of the zafu with both knees planted firmly on the floor.   Zazen and duality Posture is about obtaining the right state of mind. Maintaining Your Zafu

Whether you have a zafu from NadaPada or any other company, you’ll want to maintain your zafu to have it forever. It doesn’t take much but a little bit of care goes a long way. Usually you’ll have two cases for your zafu. An outer case and then an inner case. If buckwheat hulls spill over outside of the inner case, they will ‘poke’ out of the outer case. You’ll be able to feel it. This can happen in the manufacturing process or if you open the inner case and some hulls spill over. You’ll want to get these hulls out of there and keep things clean. On Beginning

Starting meditation can be a bit daunting. First of all, it’s kind of hard. Your mind is scattered, you may be judging yourself, you’re busy, your house is noisy, your mind is noisy, you missed a day… etc. Here are some of our top tips for beginners. 1. Start with short runs of time. 1, 2 or 3 minutes 3 minutes can seem like an eternity when starting. Get the snowball rolling down the hill though.
